Si Apik is a nostalgic statement piece of a Cirebon trishaw. The main focus of the design is to re-vamp and beautify the trishaw without changing its proportions and components to keep its originality alive. The concept is to make this piece relevant to us by having an outdoor exterior feels pleasant for indoor use.
Si Apik is intended to be a relevant nostalgic statement piece. Our purpose is to approach common undervalued furniture and reinterpret it through modern sensibilities, then use familiarity as a tool to create nostalgia and emotional engagement with the users.
Its name originated from an Indonesian word: Apik, which means tidy/neat. In reflection on its name, the main focus in designing Si Apik is to re-vamp, beautify and “tidy up” Cirebon trishaw while preserving its original components and characteristic by incorporating a foldable shade structure and a sisal rug to bring the outdoors indoors.

Materials
Woven backrest & matching panels on the ‘interior’ of the trishaw. Spacious upholstery following its original proportions, allowing several relaxed sitting positions. Maintaining its original armrest decor & adding few brass screw details on each joint. Sisal carpet for the footrest, to give you outdoor feel when you take off your shoes. Faux leather hood with existing metal structure. Wooden rim that is inspired by vintage wagon wheel.
